Executive Summary
From Bottleneck to Breakthrough
For years, FSC's entrepreneurship center faced a familiar challenge: demand for startup support far outpaced what a small team could deliver. With a traditional cohort-based model capped at roughly 25 students, most aspiring founders were left without access—even as an innovation audit revealed more than 1,000 student projects emerging each year. By adopting KANU, FSC reimagined incubation as a scalable, campuswide experience rather than a selective bottleneck.
16x Scale Increase
Expanded from 25 students to 400+ in one academic year
Intentional Interventions
Replaced guesswork with real-time data-informed support
Sustainable Operations
One full-time employee operates the entire incubation program
The Challenge
When Demand Outpaces Infrastructure
FSC's entrepreneurship center was built to support student founders—but its structure limited who could participate. With a small team and a traditional cohort-based incubation model, the center could serve only about 25 students per year.
At the same time, an innovation audit revealed a stark mismatch: more than 1,000 student projects were being created annually across campus. The majority of these students had no pathway into structured entrepreneurial support. As demand grew, it became clear that the existing model could never meet the scale of student ambition. Without a new approach, incubation would remain exclusive by necessity, not by design.
Access at Risk
Over 1,000 student projects annually had no pathway into structured entrepreneurial support, creating a massive opportunity gap.
Cohort Bottleneck
Traditional model capped at ~25 students despite 1,000+ projects emerging
Limited Visibility
No clear view of student progress or where intervention was needed
Staff Constraints
Small team couldn't scale support without adding headcount
Exclusive by Default
Most aspiring founders were left without structured support
The Solution
Infrastructure Designed for Scale
Recognizing that the problem wasn't interest but infrastructure, FSC partnered with KANU to create a comprehensive 'incubation voyage' that could support students campuswide—not just a select cohort.
Campuswide Access
Opened incubation to any interested student, eliminating artificial selection barriers and democratizing entrepreneurship support.
Real-Time Visibility
Moved from guessing student progress to making intentional, data-informed interventions at scale.
Unified System
Combined education, venture tools, micro-grants, mentorship, and events in one platform—serving both Seed to Scale Incubation and ENT2100 course.

How to Scale Incubation Without Scaling Staff
Programs facing the same cohort bottleneck can adopt FSC's approach to unlock campuswide access and sustainable operations.
Audit True Demand
Understand how many student projects exist across campus versus how many you currently serve—this reveals the gap.
Replace Cohorts with Pathways
Design an 'incubation voyage' that students can enter at any time, not just during cohort enrollment periods.
Enable Real-Time Visibility
Use KANU's dashboard to track student progress and intervene intentionally instead of guessing where help is needed.
